“Marriage is a Marathon, not a Sprint, and at times, we have to pace ourselves” Gary Thomas, Devotions for a sacred marriage. Those are some words to remember!
I can assure you that I do not take enough of these breaks that Gary talks about. As a homeschool mom of 3, I don’t have many moments alone and I do not do a very good job of making time for myself. Although I do see the value in taking time for myself- even if it is just for 30 minutes, I find that I don’t have time to stop that long and I end up feeling guilty if I do anything that is just for me.
I know that for my marriages sake, I need to take a break and just breath from time to time and regroup my thoughts. It isn’t really fair to my family to continue to “sprint through this marathon” so to speak. I will only end up tired, less focused, and in the end unable to do the task at hand.
So this week I am taking time out to clear my head, be alone with God, and be revamped for my marriage!
