The Big Picture

Week 21
But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness and all these things will be given to you as well.  Matthew 6:33I have to say that I don’t think that I have truly viewed the “big picture” for my marriage the way Gary Thomas put it- To Glorify God.  It should have just been obvious.  Our goal should be to Glorify God in Everything that we do but I guess when I think about it, I probably would have said to be happy and have a good marriage.  There is nothing wrong with that- well except for you will never obtain an “always happy” or a “perfect marriage” status.  We are all sinners and we will all go through ups and downs in life and this includes our marriage.“When I strive to put God’s kingdom first and focus on growing in his righteousness, it amazes me how quickly everything else falls into place” -Gary Thomas

I find that Gary is right.  When I am fully focused on God it does seem like all the details of my life just seem to work out.  If I am focused on Glorifying God in my marriage, focused on the big picture, then all the tiny little details that sometimes can cause issues, won’t matter near as much.  If I am focused on being happy in my marriage, all I can see are the things that aren’t perfect.  I sometimes can find myself so focused on what needs to change, that I forget how good things truly are.

No matter how much we want a good marriage, we will have trials.  There will be hardships and there will be times where things are just not perfect.  But we have to stay focused on the big picture, living a life that is Glorifying to God!

This week I am going to focus on the big picture, and not the tiny details that normally cause me to get bent out of shape.  Praying for you all this week!

I hope you all had a Merry Christmas!  Today is New Years!  I pray blessings for you in 2013!  I am excited for what Married Life will have to offer in 2013 and I hope you will all be a part of it!Picture
