nevergiveupAlmost 10 years ago I married the love of my life.  We were young, barely 18 years old, but we were in love!  I would be lying if I said it has been a fairy tale, picture of perfection marriage.  When we said I do, we had no clue what we were really getting into, but who does?

As time has passed, we learned more about one another, we grew up together, and realized that there was more to marriage then our own happiness.  We learned to compromise, learned each others pet peeves, and we have learned to love each other just the way we are.  But what has changed our marriage the most, is allowing God to lead it.

Sometimes it feels like the world we live in makes it harder to allow God to be the center of homes and marriages.  There is always something distracting us or trying to pull us away.  We find it hard to truly let God lead our lives.  It seems easier to just figure it out on our own.  A few years ago we finally decided to try our best to give it all to the Lord.

Since then, we pray together, read the bible together, look to Him for answers, and try our best to seek God daily in our marriage.  (we are not perfect by any means, but we do our best)  Putting God first has made the biggest difference in our marriage.  Joel and I both can tell a huge difference if we have gotten busy and not done our devotionals or prayed together in a few days.  When we don’t pray together and spend time in the word, we are less understanding, angered easier, and over all just not as happy.

This vow renewal ceremony is so exciting to us!  We are excited to have the opportunity to renew our vows to one another and to recommit our marriage to the Lord.  We are also saying “we will never give up” with a group of believers and friends- what an empowering movement for marriage!  I feel blessed an honored to be able to witness these couples, making this statement!  I know God is working on our marriages and he is going to use our testimonies of faith in our marriages to encourage others!

My last thoughts on this event….. Sunday is the last day that you can RSVP.  This event is for any couple who is legally married in the state of Arkansas (this means that the state of AR recognizes your marriage).  It doesn’t matter if you have been married 1 month, or 50 years, you can participate in this event!  I can tell you that the plans and details just continue to get better and better!  It is going to be a lot of fun!  If you have any questions, please let me know.
