We love October around here!  Not only does it mean football and cooler weather, but it also means TRUNK OR TREAT!  Trunk or Treat is my family’s favorite way to spend Halloween.  It is safe, kid friendly, the decorated trunks are always fun, there will be hot dogs, hot chocolate and the biggest bonus is the kids get candy!

What is Trunk or Treat?  It’s a community-wide event that takes place on Halloween.  This year we are starting at 6:30 pm at the Van Buren High School east parking lot.  Everyone who signs up to decorate a trunk will park their cars and set up decorations…it can be as simple or as over the top as you want!  We encourage life groups to work together on a theme with one or more of their cars.  So you decorate your trunk and pass out candy to the kids that come.  Simple as that.  And it is super fun!

How can I help? You can sign up to decorate a trunk or donate bags of candy!  We will need lots of both!  Here is a link to our VolunteerSpot sign-up:

Like I said earlier, decorating your trunk can be as simple or as over the top as you want it to be!  It is worth mentioning that there will be judges walking around that will pick their favorite trunk, and the people that decorated that trunk get a sweet trophy!

Here are a few ideas to get you started:
General Halloween decorations (spiders, ghosts, vampires, etc)
Noah’s Ark
Disney movies
Candy Land

I hope these suggestions help you!  Trunk or Treat is guaranteed to be a blast for you and your family.  Invite your family, friends, neighbors, total strangers in Walmart…everyone!
