Father Abraham has many sons, many sons has Father Abraham.  I am one of them and so are you, so let’s all praise The Lord.   If you know this song, you know it doesn’t end there.  Which is what makes the song so great.  When you add all the motions  it becomes one of the best 3, 4 and 5 year old workout songs EVER!  Right arm, left arm, right foot, left foot, chin up, turn around and then FINALLY sit down.  Whew!

This is exactly what I heard from the hallway this past Sunday.  It immediately brought a smile to my face.  I walked a little faster to get to where the song was coming from.  As I rounded the corner, I saw our PreMO Director and wonderful volunteers leading the children in worship.  Belting Father Abraham at the top of their lungs.  There wasn’t a child without a smile on their face.  There wasn’t a child sitting down.  There wasn’t a child who wasn’t enjoying themselves immensely.  It was complete music to my ears and magic to my heart.

I’ve walked the halls of our new church building a few times now.  Every time dreaming of what we can do to make the rooms just right.  What color to paint this environment and where to put the stage in that environment.  Which is all very exciting.  But I realized something while leaning against the doorway Sunday.  None of those things I just mentioned matter if we don’t have children to fill them.  Without the smiles, without the laughter without the music and definitely without Father Abraham our church wouldn’t be the same.  Super quiet.  And for me, sad.

So, I still dream.  With themes and paint(lots of paint actually) and toys and books and even some shelves.  But this past Sunday I started dreaming even bigger.  With kids.  Filling every environment in Children’s Ministry with as many children as we can.  Giving each child the opportunity to see Gods love for them through not only their family but also the volunteers who are with them each Sunday.  To sing loud and to smile big and to laugh hard.

I can not wait for the day when our Welcome Home Project comes to completion.  We will look around and see our new Children’s environments so full of life!  And on that day we will ALL be singing…so let’s all praise The Lord!   Amen!

Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”
